DESCRIPTION:North Bethesda Village is pleased to sponsor a series of Zoom conversations on the topic of Mental Health and Aging.  These conversations will be open to Village participants throughout Montgomery County (subject to space limitations). \nThe first workshop is as follows: \nUnderstanding Mental Health & Aging \nMonday\, September 15\, 2025\, 10:30-11:30 a.m. \nVia Zoom \nThe session will be presented by Dr. Rene Laje\, PhD\, LICSW\, LCSW-C and Yasaman Alavi\, LCPC.  Dr. Laje is the Director of Clinical Operations/Mental Health Services at the Jewish Social Services Agency (JSSA).  Ms. Alavi is Manager of Seniors’ Services at the Sante Group medical health clinic (Silver Spring). \nJoin us for an engaging workshop on common mental health issues experienced by older adults\, such as depression\, anxiety\, grief\, and the emotional impact of chronic illness. Learn how to recognize the signs that therapy may be needed and discover practical steps for finding a therapist who accepts Medicare or private insurance. \nWe’ll also discuss the differences in supporting those who are homebound compared to those who seek outpatient mental health services\, highlighting unique challenges and resources for each. \nThis session will provide valuable tools\, resources\, and guidance for older adults\, caregivers\, and families who want to support emotional well-being in later life. \nTo register and receive the Zoom link\, login to the Village calendar or email to operations@silverspringvillage.org
