MAKING SILVER SPRING A GREAT PLACE TO AGE IN PLACE
Silver Spring Village is a nonprofit [501(c)(3)] organization that offers programs and needed services for adults who wish to "age in place" -- to remain as long as possible in their own homes, amid familiar people and surroundings, and engaged in the community. Our network of "neighbors helping neighbors" supports individuals and also builds a stronger community. Mirroring the neighborhoods within our service area, Silver Spring Village is a welcoming organization with a diverse membership and volunteer corps.
The many benefits of participation in our Village are available to residents throughout zip codes 20910, 20901, the adjacent section of 20815 east of Rock Creek Park, and part of 20902 east of Wheaton Regional Park ("Kemp Mill"). This area includes the commercial core of downtown Silver Spring, MD and the many nearby neighborhoods. We enroll members and volunteers on an ongoing basis.
Our Village links members to volunteers who can help with transportation, home maintenance, errands, and ordinary household tasks that have become difficult or unsafe. Our Village-sponsored educational and social activities provide information, stimulation, and fun. In addition, we offer referrals to professional services and negotiated discounts at local shops and businesses. Participation by a diverse mix of residents within our service area enhances the quality of life for the entire community.
