Lumina’s Ensemble presents The Mystery Plays by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
Parental guidance/content description: This production contains some physical violence and discussion of disturbing themes such as murder and child abuse, including descriptions of violent acts and some strong language. Parental discretion advised for audience members under age 12. This production is not suitable for audience members under age 9.
These journeys, our lives, are long and winding. Even the briefest ones are fraught with – are crowded with – what we can see, the physical world, and what we cannot… That which lies beyond our vision and our understanding.
Thus begins The Mystery Plays, an examination of the dark, cobwebbed corners of the human psyche and the mysteries that run through our lives. Reminiscent of The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents, a mysterious man with a mysterious hat guides us through two stories – one, about a man’s brush with the supernatural on a train; the other, about a woman struggling to forgive her brother for a horrible act committed in their childhood.
“…stylish, spine-tingling…Mr. Aguirre-Sacasa uses standard tricks of horror stories, borrowing liberally from masters like Kafka, Lovecraft, Hitchcock…But his mastery of the genre is his own…irresistible.” —The New York Times.
Tickets for seniors are $12; all tickets are will-call. Buy tickets in advance at https://www.luminastudio.org/tickets/
