In Recital: Holly Nelson, Violin and Luke Ratcliffe, Piano

Noted classical violinist Holly Nelson, accompanied by pianist Luke Ratcliff, will perform violin sonatas by Debussy, Prokofiev, and Franck, and Poldowski’s (Regine Weinaiwski) Tango. Village members, volunteers, and friends are cordially invited!
Dr. Nelson has appeared in concert as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician throughout the United States. As former concertmaster of the Pan- American Symphony Orchestra, a DC-based ensemble dedicated to performing Latin American orchestral repertoire, she has appeared as soloist at the Kennedy Center and Wolf Trap. Other concerto engagements in 2024 include performing Las Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas for Violin and Orchestra by A. Piazzolla (arr. L. Desyatnikov) with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and Florence Price’s Violin Concerto no. 2 with the Durham Symphony Orchestra in NC. In 2024, she had the honor of giving the Maryland premiere of John Williams’ violin concerto Treesong with the John Williams Project Orchestra at the Peabody Institute with the composer himself in attendance. Dr. Luke Ratcliffe is an acclaimed pianist, pedagogue, and composer whose performances and teaching have earned national and international recognition. He has appeared in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Strathmore Music Center, The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and the Lyceum. Equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator, Luke is known for his wide-ranging programs, artistic versatility, and commitment to lesser-known music.
